Nokia, future WP7 producer

[RECAP]
Last week Nokia made the move to enter an exclusive partnership with Microsoft effectively ending their independent bid within the mobile operating system wars.

Background:
Nokia has suffered what I would argue to be a slow and drawn out death. Ever since “Snake” on my Nokia 3300 the flow innovation had drawn a halt. Nokia most noticeably fell behind its class in 2009 with the behemoth iPhone’s launch.

Nokia has attempted variously with its own franchise of OS namely Symbian, an open source operating system maintained by Nokia.

Nokia N8

Most recently they released the N8 in late 2008, which was pretty cool, but a prototypical case of “too little, too late.”

Perhaps the innovation through an open source tactic fueled the animosity which sets the tone between Nokia’s rivalry with Android. Nokia’s former CEO, Anssi Vanjoki described phone manufacturers partnering with Android as doing no better than Finnish boys who pee their pants in the winter for warmth” [Obligatory].

The Market:
The Android phone market is fickle and could be the harshest winter for manufacturers. Countless companies are clawing to release the next “best Android” phone. It’s the telecommunication ballet's Black Swan. A great article to read argues that the “Android Party” not only suffers from overcrowding, but the opportunity to launch a great android would be released to a market that quickly obsoletes even their greatest “best Android phone” giving them a typical lifespan of a few months before they are dethroned [via].

Rumored WP7 Phone

The Future:
The Nokia - Microsoft partnership is a controversial point of contention. Microsoft has the software; Nokia has the hardware. Even as early as this week rumors have already spread about the potential Nokia WP7, indicated by pictures spawning over the internet. It looks one word: amazing. I hope you’ll keep your ears to the ground on this issue and follow the story along with me!

In the mean time, I’d like to know, regardless of your phone orientation let it be iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android, do you think the Windows phone will have any impact on this market with Nokia on their side?

Please tell me!!
